History of Boston

The history of Boston is over 380 years old that began in 1630. The early settlers were puritans from England. In 1630, Puritan colonists from England founded Boston. The British Colonist came here and it transformed into the hub of American commercial activities and politics. Boston was the major port of colonial America in the seventeenth century. Up until mid-18th century, Boston was the largest city of America. Later, it turned into the center-stage for the revolutionary war. The Boston Tea Party was a political protest against the East India Company and the British. The Boston Tea Party became popular and a historic event in December 1773 as the Americans denied unloading the tea on their soil. Also, they were of this opinion that British had no right to impose tax on them. This event intensified and increased the revolution movement. Boston observed a decline. In 1776, George Washington was successful in getting the British out the city. Gradually, the city became a thriving seaport. The population began to grow and Boston got the city status in 1822. Amid the 20th century, the city began to regain its power and form. At present, it is a flourishing city and hub of education with some of the famous institution situated here, such as the Harvard University. The city attracted throngs of students. The city has a unique architecture and ambiance, and is being compared to several European cities.
